COEX Mall (Thursday morning)

We got ready in the morning and met up with the group in the hotel lobby. From there, we walked approximately 6-7 blocks down the streets of Seoul. The weather was perfect... A sunny day with gentle winds. We started the day by visiting COEX Mall. It is a mostly underground mall intermingled within the pathways below the city. There were many neat shops and places to eat! To me it seems like a very popular place for the locals, it must be a hit on Saturdays with families. It wasn't a clean place but, it also wasn't terribly dirty. Typical city life I guess...

When we went in one of the shops looking at clothes, I noticed a mangled, dead fish taped by the doorway. It was quite disgusting. Professor Kim informed us that it is tradition to hang dead fish up for good luck with the business!

During my 4th year of the program at Kansas State, we will design a Samsung kiosk to be located at COEX. From what I understand, we will work with another university on the design. It was neat to see the site in person and get to know the area. Jordan and I will present the site and surroundings to our class when it comes time to start the project!

By lunchtime, we were all super hungry and excited to try more food from the Korean culture! Professor Kim took us to a department store for lunch. The bottom level was FILLED with a large variety of food and drink stands.... Fish sticks, sushi, wines, smoothies, dumplings, traditional Korean dishes, noodles, seafood, pizzas, burgers, deserts, waffles, etc. You name it, they had it! There were too many for me to choose from!

We all tried each others' foods. The scallops were spicy and a little chewier than I am used to. Dumplings.... AMAZING! My main dish was chicken on a stick. It was covered in different sauces and really hit the spot! I completed my meal with a Mochi Cream. I would tell you what it was but, I honestly don't know. I do know that it had a raspberry flavor and that it was very tasty!

After lunch we took a subway-like train system to Kyung Hee University...
